Embattled Brisbane Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has hired legal representation and intends to take police action over rumours spread online in recent days.
According to the Daily Telegraph, unsubstantiated accusations surrounding Seibold's private life have been circulating social media platforms.
The accusations claimed a major story was unfolding at the Queensland NRL club and Seibold was at the centre of the claims.
The reports says Seibold, who is currently on two weeks leave from his coaching duties, has hired Brisbane legal firm Howden Saggers to act on his behalf.
"Due to the allegations which have circulated online and in other forums, Mr Seibold has engaged Dave Garratt of Howden Saggers Lawyers to act on his behalf," says Seibold's lawyer Dave Garratt.
"At the appropriate time, this matter will be reported to the Queensland Police Service and other appropriate authorities for their consideration.
"Given the nature of these matters, both personal and legal, no further comment will be made until it has been considered by the Queensland Police Service and other appropriate authorities."
NRL 360 host and former Queensland State of Origin star Ben Ikin labelled the rumours "vile and scandalous" during Tuesday nights broadcast, while Fox League co-host Paul Kent described the rumours as “bulls***”.
