NZ Warriors assistant Stacey Jones won't be part of Nathan Brown's coaching line-up next year, with the incoming coach opting not to re-sign the club legend.
Jones, who has been in the role since 2016, and Tony Iro, the longest serving member of the Warriors coaching team, will both not be retained in their current roles, although the club hopes the duo will remain, according to Stuff.
Brown has opted to retain Justin Morgan, with former interim Gold Coast Titans co-coach Craig Hodges arriving in an assistant role.
Jones is one of the best players to don a Warriors jersey, playing 261 games from 1995-2005 and again in 2009. In 2013, he returned as the junior recruitment and pathways coach, then progressed to be U20s and NSW Cup coach in 2015, before joining the first-grade staff.
Iro has been involved with the Warriors since 2005, and has worked as an assistant, U20s coach and even caretaker coach in 2012, when Brian McClennan was sacked with two games remaining.
Jones will have a specialised role at the club, although what that'll be is unclear and won't be determined until he returns to New Zealand, while Iro looks likely to assist Phil Gould in pathways and development.
Both Jones' and Iro's current contracts expire at the end of the season.
Hodges was due to coach in the Queensland Cup this year, but that competition was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
He joined the Titans staff in 2016, coaching two games after Neil Henry was sacked in 2017 and a further eight games when Garth Brennan was shown the door two years later.
The Titans lost all 10 games Hodges coached.
