Peta Hiku will remain an NZ Warrior for at least one more season, after inking a new one-year extension with the NRL club.
On Wednesday, the club announced they'd agreed to terms with the 11-test Kiwis international, with his previous contract set to expire at the end of this season.
"Peta deserves his new contract," says Warriors recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan. "He has been in stellar form the last six weeks and has worked really hard on his game.
"He brings unbelievable skill and try-scoring involvement, whether it be setting them up or scoring them himself. It's no coincidence the wingers outside him are always around the top of the tryscoring list."
Two years ago, Hiku formed a partnership with wing David Fusitu'a that saw the latter lead the NRL in tryscoring, while last year, he switched to the other side of the field and helped Ken Maumalo capture Dally M Winger of the Year.
The 27-year-old is currently the Warriors' leading try-scorer this season, with six to his name, including a hat-trick against North Queensland Cowboys. He also has five try assists and averages 114 running metres per game.
"Peta provides invaluable experience to our club," says Warriors chief executive Cameron George. "With a number of promising young outside backs coming through, they’ll benefit from his talent.
"As a very popular member of the squad and it's great news to have him on board, as we continue to build our roster for 2021 and the future."
Next season, Hiku will likely form a midfield pairing with Euan Aitken, who's signed a three-year deal to join the Warriors from St George Illawarra Dragons.
