The Farah Palmer Cup is set to go to the next level when it kicks off on Saturday.
Spots are up for grabs for the World Cup in NZ, while several sevens stars are also in the mix.
With the sevens campaign on hold for the foreseeable future, 15 of the format's 20 contracted stars have committed to the provincial competition.
Since making her debut a decade ago, sevens star Ruby Tui hasn't played much 15-a-side and doesn't want to let her new teammates down.
"I'll be out there hopefully running in the right direction and not too crazy around," Tui tells Newshub.
"It's a very different game. People think it's similar, but it's very different."
Tui's coming off a successful club season with the Ponsonby Fillies playing alongside sevens teammate Theresa Fitzpatrick.
The Auckland midfielder's also a regular in the Black Ferns, so will need to decide between next year's World Cup in New Zealand or the Tokyo Olympics.
"I'll leave that up to the coaches," Fitzpatrick says. "I guess I'll just put my best foot forward for sevens or fifteens."
Fitzpatrick's one of 51 contracted players in New Zealand, while the majority of the Farah Palmer Cup squads are amateurs.
And that's something Auckland backs coach and four-time World Cup winner Anna Richards wants to see change.
"I'd like to see in the future that girls at Farah Palmer Cup level are contracted in some way," Richards tells Newshub.
