The Kiwi Ferns will face Fetu Samoa at Mt Smart Stadium in November for what will likely be the only international rugby league test played this year.
Newshub understands the sides will square off on November 7, in what will also be the only game Mt Smart hosts this year.
Despite some players, including vice captain Georgie Hale, potentially unavailable due to their involvement in the NRL women's competition, the match will be valuable to the Kiwi Ferns, as they build for next year's World Cup in England.
Those players involved in the NRLW competition would miss the game if their side made the final due to COVID-19 quarantine requirements, although the majority of players from both sides are NZ-based.
Last month, New Zealand Rugby League confirmed the Kiwis won't play any tests next year, opening the door for the women's side to take centre stage.
Coach Justin Morgan stepped down from his role as head coach of the Kiwi Ferns due to his involvement with the Warriors this season.
NZRL are yet to make an announcement on who will take charge of the side for November's game.
The two sides met at Mt Smart in June last year, when the Kiwi Ferns beat Fetu Samoa 46-8.
Hale and the Women's Warriors kick-off their season October 3.
