Former Silver Ferns captain Laura Langman is officially hanging up her bib.
Two months after announcing her retirement from international netball, Langman has called time on her 17-year career.
The 34-year-old played her final competitive game earlier this month, when her Sunshine Coast Lightning were eliminated by the West Coast Fever from the Australian Super League playoffs.
"To be part of a team is a gift," Langman posted on social media.
"Teammates see you at your best, your worst and all the times in between. These are the memories that make the journey so special.
"Thanks for having me, netball whanau, it has been a blast… what next is unknown and that’s what makes it so exciting... goosebumps.
"Over and out."
In late 2018, Langman returned from a three-year hiatus from international netball, after her decision to play offshore made her ineligible to represent New Zealand.
She was promptly made team captain and combined with incoming coach Dame Noeline Taurua to lift NZ netball out of a deep rut, after the team had failed to medal at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
The 2019 World Cup final win over Australia in Liverpool became the jewel in her crown and, ultimately, the ideal way to farewell international netball.
