Silver Ferns defender Michaela Sokolich-Beatson has been ruled out of the upcoming netball quad series, after rupturing her left Achilles tendon during training.
The injury is another cruel blow for the 24-year-old, who was working her way back to match fitness from a ruptured right Achilles sustained during the Netball Nations Cup in January.
The Northern Mystics star was preparing to play for the NZA side during this week's tournament against the Silver Ferns, NZ U21 and NZ Men in Palmerston North.
"With the advice of our medical staff, it is important that we needed to get Michaela home to Auckland as soon as possible," says Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua.
"Our team are all gutted for Michaela, as well as her ANZ Premiership side, the Northern Mystics."
Sokolich-Beatson will be assessed in Auckland, before a recovery timeframe is established.
