The All Blacks are set to include several rookies in their team for this weekend's opening Bledisloe Cup showdown against the Wallabies.
On Wednesday, assistant coach John Plumtree confirmed selection will be based on form not experience, meaning players like Caleb Clarke, Tupou Va'ai, and Will Jordan are all in the mix to make their debuts.
"We're picking what we think is the best side, so if there's younger players in there then so be it," Plumtree says.
Plumtree is confident those who are picked will be up to the task, and he's put the onus on the rest of the team not to overwhelm them.
"It's really important everyone's not tapping on their door, trying to give them advice," he adds.
"Let them go about their business and be there for them when they need us."
Sunday's match will have a rookie feel across both squads.
The All Blacks have seven uncapped players in their ranks, while Dave Rennie's named 16 in his first Wallabies squad.
But the sentiment is simple in the Australian camp - if you're in the squad, you're good enough to play.
"I think whether you've played 100 tests or no tests, if you get selected in a test squad you've obviously proven yourself worthy enough to throw your country's jersey on," says hooker Lukhan Salakaia-Loto.
Codie Taylor's seen his fair share of debutants come and go from the All Blacks in his five years with the team, but he's been impressed with what he's seen from the current crop of new caps and shares Plumtrees confidence they're ready to step up to test rugby.
"The great thing about the men that have come in is they're young but they're still their own people, and this environment can sometimes be intimidating, but it seems they've slipped in nicely," says Taylor.
"The senior players are awesome in this group and they get around all the new caps."
