Mike Tyson has admitted smoking cannabis right before his exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr.
Both fighters battled through eight two-minute rounds with the fight declared a draw and while the result was disappointing for some, Tyson is eager to return to the ring again next year.
The fight was Tyson's first since he hung up the gloves 15 years ago.
The two fighters underwent drug tests, but were reportedly not tested for cannabis, which is legal in the state of California, where the bout took place.
"Listen, I can't stop smoking," says Tyson. "I smoked during fights... I just have to smoke, I'm sorry.
"I'm a smoker, I smoke everyday, I never stopped smoking. It's just who I am.
"It has no effect on me from a negative standpoint. It's just what I do and how I am, and how I'm going to die.
"There's no explanation. There's no beginning, there's no end."
He says he wasn't fighting for money, despite the probable monster buys it drew.
'Iron Mike' has been open about his use of cannabis in the past and has sold cannabis products through his Tyson Holistic label since 2016. The convicted rapist is believed to earn about US$500,000 per month (NZ$710,000) through the cannabis business.
Tyson says he would "absolutely" do another exhibition bout, while giving some of the money he earned to charity.
"I could've done everything better," he says. "Everything I was doing, I could've done it better, so God willing, I'll be better the next exhibition.
"I'm not here for my ego. My ego is taking the money, buying some planes, some nice houses, packing up a bunch of chicks, and have some orgies and stuff.
"This is not who that is right now. That guy was just somebody that had to be... eventually, he was a platform to become me."
