Cricket: Groundbreaking media deal with Amazon Prime sees Blackcaps, White Ferns streamed into India

NZ Cricket have sealed a lucrative deal with broadcast partners Amazon Prime Video to stream Blackcaps and White Ferns games into India.

The contract marks Amazon's first entry into live sports in India, joining a stable that already includes Thursday Night Football (NFL), Premier League & UEFA Champions League (football), ATP & WTA Tours and US Open (tennis), and Autumn Nations Cup (rugby).

With the sporting world reeling under the COVID-19 pandemic, chief executive David White describes the deal as one of NZ Cricket's most significant.

"This partnership with Amazon Prime Video is massive for NZC," he says. "We are delighted and proud to be teaming up with such a famous and successful brand.

"As we've said before, the future of live sport is streaming and in Amazon Prime Video, we have a partner right at the coalface of the industry - innovative, go-ahead and well known for putting fans and subscribers first."

This summer, NZ Cricket has parted ways with traditional broadcast partners Sky Sport and now-defunct Radio Sport to link with Spark Sport's online streaming service and the Mediaworks radio and digital platform.

"One of NZC's key goals is to extend our teams' global reach and to build closer relationships around the world. In terms of that particular objective, we don't think we could be in better hands.

"India has always been an important market for us. No other country follows cricket like India, so it's exciting to be announcing this agreement with India's leading streamer."

The Blackcaps will begin their home international campaign this month with T20 series against West Indies.
