Wallabies flanker Lachlan Swinton will miss the rest of the Tri Nations, after copping a four-week ban for his high tackle on All Blacks lock Sam Whitelock in Australia's 24-22 win in Brisbane.
Test debutant Swinton, 22, submitted an early guilty plea, after referee Nic Berry sent him off for leading with the shoulder and endangering his opponent.
The judiciary says the foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks and Swinton's admission earned a slightly reduced suspension.
Swinton has been suspended from all forms of the game until Saturday, February 6, 2021.
All Blacks prop Ofa Tuungafasi will face the judiciary on Tuesday, after copping a red card for a similarly high tackle on the debutant Wallabies winger Tom Wright.
Sanzaar says the Blues tighthead will appear at a hearing at 7pm (NZ time), via a video conference.
"Tu'ungafasi is alleged to have contravened Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously, when he made high contact with Tom Wright,” Sanzaar says.
That's the same charge as Swinton, so it's likely the 28-year-old will face a similar ban.
