Tri Nations: Wounded All Blacks brace for 'unknown' Pumas

The All Blacks are doing their best to put the disappointment of defeat behind them, as they prepare for a new challenge in the Tri Nations this weekend.

They've shifted their focus to a team other than Australia, with their next assignment coming against Argentina.

The Pumas have been in Sydney for a month but they're a rather unknown quantity for the men in black, and have an air of mystique about them heading into their Sydney showdown on Saturday.

"It's exciting," says hooker Dane Coles. "Facing another opposition freshens things up.

"It's a new team that's a little unknown. They're a very physical team."

Argentina only managed to get their entire squad together last week, after 13 European-based players who arrived late completed their mandatory isolation period.

They have played two matches against what has been essentially an Australia 'A' side.

All Blacks midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown suspects the weeks of training together would mean they would be well prepared come this weekend.

"I have no doubt they will turn up ready to go," Lienert-Brown says.

"They are looking sharp. We expect them to turn up like the Pumas do normally."

The contest offers the All Blacks a chance to hit back after their defeat to the Wallabies on Saturday, where they failed to adapt and take their opportunities.

Adapting will be a must against the Pumas, who will bring plenty of muscle and aggression, just as the Wallabies did in Brisbane.

"They're a passionate country and they're passionate men... I think they'll be excited about playing us," says Coles.

"I have no doubt they'll turn up and they'll be ready and raring to go."

One person who likely won't be ready to go is prop Ofa Tuungafasi, who faces the judiciary on Monday, after his red card tackle on Saturday.

Coles insists it could've been any of his teammates.

"It's not just Ofa's thing, it's all of us," Coles insists.  "We got a few penalties around head highs so we need to be way better. Discipline was a bit of a letdown on the weekend."
