Late-round drama has cost Kiwi golfer Amelia Garvey a chance to play the final two days of her first Major championship.
After an impressive opening round at the US Open in Houston, the 20-year-old amateur was on track to reach the weekend, sitting one-under through 14 holes on day two.
But Garvey dropped five-shots in the final four holes, which included a triple bogey at the par-three 16th, to finish four-over-par - one shot below the cut line.
"I just don't think I had it today at all and I knew that kind of at the start,” Garvey says. "Through nine holes, I was doing really well to be one over, so it was just a grind out there.
"When you're not swinging it well, you're going to be caught out and I eventually was, really.
"I had the same mindset as yesterday - just go out there and do the same thing - but today it just wasn't there."
The news is better for New Zealand No.1 Lydia Ko, who finished her second round six shots behind leader Hinako Shibuno of Japan.
The Kiwi remains in the hunt for a top-10 finish, tied for 14th at one-under, after a late bogey dropped her from seventh.
"I feel like it was a case where it could have been better, but it could have been worse,” Ko says. "So, yeah, another solid round.
"Hopefully, I can take that kind of momentum going into the weekend."
