4:00pm - Players are making their way back out onto the field. New Zealand are back out batting. We wouldn't suspect they would bat much longer before declaring.  

Tea: That was most definitely New Zealand's session. Kane Williamson brought up his third double century before getting through to 236. He had a big let-off shortly after bringing up his double century when he was caught behind but Roach had bowled a no-ball. 

The West Indies picked up the wicket of Blundell in the second over after lunch, then Mitchell not long after but New Zealand regrouped and an unbeaten 68 run partnership between Williamson and Kyle Jamieson has the hosts in control. 

It will be interesting to see how much longer New Zealand bat for before declaring.

1:38pm - Players are making their way out onto the field for the afternoon session. We are in for a intriguing session where the Blackcaps could run away with it and set a massive score or the West Indies could get themselves right back in the contest. 

Lunch - The best session of the test match for the West Indies. There bowlers where impressive bowling tight lines, making runs hard to come by. 

The visitors had an impressive first hour picking up the wickets of Taylor and Nicholls through Gabriel and Roach. 

The Blackcaps had a late flurry of runs when the West Indies brought on the spinners take the pressure off but overall the honours went to the visitors for this sessoon.

In related news, Cricket West Indies have won the 2020 Christopher Martin-Jenkins Spirit of Cricket Award for sending their men's and women's teams to tour England.

The men's side arrived in June for a three-Test series when Coronavirus infection rates in England were high.

The women played a Twenty20 series in September at short notice after India and South Africa were unable to tour because of the pandemic.

Last year's winners were the Blackcaps, who were recognised for their conduct after losing the World Cup final to England.

The Blackcaps resume play at 243/2, after really blunting the tourists' attack on conditions that should have given them more assistance than they were able to extract. 

After Will Young's short-lived test debut, fellow opener Tom Latham and skipper Kane Williamson tamed the West Indies bowlers, compiling a 154-run second-wicket partnership, before Latham was bowled by Kemar Roach.

Williamson and Ross Taylor took the innings to stumps, with the captain now just three runs short of his 22nd test century.

After rain force a late start to play on Thursday, the weather forecast appears kinder today, with some cloud cover expected and a high of 21 degrees C. Play will begin early (10:40pm) to make up for lost time.
