Kiwi Michael Venus' 2021 Australian Open doubles campaign is over, after being bundled out in the third round on Monday.
Tenth-seeded Venus and his Australian partner John Peers have fallen to a hard-fought 7-6 7-6 defeat against the defending champions American Rajeev Ram and Brit John Salisbury.
The pair fought back from early deficits to force tiebreakers in each set, both of which were lost 7-4.
Ram and Salisbury advance to face NZ's Marcus Daniell and his Austrian cohort Philip Oswald in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, who breezed past Americans Frances Tiafoe and Nick Monroe 6-3 7-5 on Sunday.
Daniell will make his third Grand Slam quarter-final appearance, after reaching the last eight at Melbourne in 2018 and Wimbledon 2019.
