Despite an ongoing depletion of backline stocks, NZ Warriors have granted utility Hayze Perham an early release from his contract.
The 21-year-old will link with former teammate Isaiah Papalii at Parramatta Eels, who currently sit second in the competition.
Perham was in the final year of his contract with the Warriors, making nine appearances, since his debut against Melbourne Storm in 2019. His only try came against the Eels last season.
"We weren’t in a position to offer Hayze a deal beyond this year, as we have a
number of young outside backs in our system, so when he asked for a release,
we couldn’t stand in his way to secure his future," says Warriors recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan.
"We thank him for his efforts with us over the last four seasons and wish him
all the best with the next stage of his career."
Perham provided fullback, centre and half cover, but despite his versatility, he was never able to cement a regular spot in the matchday squad.
The Warriors are in the midst of a backline injury crisis, with Pita Hiku, Ken Maumalo, Paul Turner, Euan Aitken, Adam Pompey and Chanel Harris-Tavita all sidelined, while winger David Fusitua will return from injury this week.
Hard-running forward Jack Murchie has been named at centre for the Anzac clash against the Storm, with debutants Rocco Berry and Reece Walsh on an extended bench.
