NZ Breakers have notched another impressive win in their ANBL homecoming roadshow, cruising to a 94-76 victory over the Adelaide 36ers in Christchurch on Tuesday.
Led by star guard Corey Webster, the Breakers pulled away from the 36ers with a dominant second quarter and never looked back, treating the 3000 southerners at Christchurch Arena to one of their most emphatic wins of their tumultuous season.
The locals' shooting from three-point range was a deciding factor, pouring in 17 of their 35 attempts, while the Sixers could only manage 6/23.
Webster made his game-changing impact off the bench with a team-high 22 points to go with eight assists, while shooting a sizzling 8/12 from the floor and 4/7 from beyond the arc.
Import Levi Randolph was also a standout for the Breakers (17 points, five rebounds), while fellow American Colton Iverson added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Finn Delany continued his breakthrough season with 14 points and six rebounds, while point guard William McDowell-White contributed a handy eight points and eight assists.
Breakers coach Dan Shamir credited a smaller line-up for taking advantage of the Adelaide big men and taking control of the contest in the second quarter.
"We put together a run in the first half where we started making shots and had the ball moving," Shamir says.
"The 36ers started to pack the paint [in the second term] and we got the right reads, played the right way then Corey came in and things started opening up and we got a lot of good looks."
The Breakers will head back to Auckland for their long-awaited return to Spark Arena, where they'll take on the Illawarra Hawks on Friday.
