UEFA has charged England's Football Association, after images emerged showing a laser pen being shone on Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel during Wednesday's Euro 2020 semi-final.
European football's governing body has also charged the FA over the booing that occurred during the Danish national anthem, before the enthralling match that England won in extra-time.
The incident involving Schmeichel occurred towards the end of the first half of extra-time, as he prepared to face a Harry Kane penalty.
The Leicester City stopper saved Kane's spotkick, but the England captain pounced on the rebound, slotting home the matchwinner to send the Danes out.
UEFA says the case will be dealt with by its Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board in due course.
UEFA says it had opened disciplinary proceedings and has charged England with the use of a "laser pointer by its supporters".
"Whoever they are, they're an idiot - it's stupid and he doesn't deserve that," ITV presenter Mark Pougatch said during the broadcast.
"That sort of thing, nobody wants to see."
After the incident, the English Football Association's on-site team worked with UEFA to try and find who had used the laser device.
The Danish Football Union has confirmed to UEFA that it had no interest in taking the matter any further.
