Kalyn Ponga has returned to Queensland's State of Origin side at the expense of NZ Warriors rookie Reece Walsh.
Walsh, 18, was called into the Queensland side for game two of the series in Brisbane, but was ruled out on game day with a hamstring injury.
That same hamstring injury kept Walsh out of the Warriors' 19-18 loss to St George Dragons last Friday, with the Kiwi outfit hopeful of his return against Cronulla Sharks on Sunday.
Newcastle Knights fullback Ponga returns to the side and will start in the No.1 jersey, after missing the first two games of the series with a groin injury.
Nineteen-year-old North Queensland Cowboys rookie Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow will make his Origin debut in the centres, alongside Dane Gagai.
Newcastle’s Kurt Mann and Brisbane’s Thomas Flegler have also been given maiden call-ups by coach Paul Green, named on an extended bench.
Gold Coast Titans star AJ Brimson returns to the side and will start from the bench in the No.14 jersey.
Next week's game three against New South Wales is a dead rubber, with the Blues holding an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Game three is scheduled for Sydney, but could be moved, as New South Wales battles an outbreak of COVID-19.
