Melbourne Storm have overcome a determined Gold Coast Titans 34-20 to claim an NRL record-equalling 19th consecutive win on Thursday night.
The famous franchise is now just one win away from breaking the 1975 Sydney Roosters' - then Eastern Suburbs' - 46-year-old mark, which they'll look to best when they take on Parramatta Eels next Saturday.
After falling behind early in a relatively sluggish start - the Titans ahead 16-12 at halftime - the Storm came on strong down the stretch, as linchpins Harry Grant and Cameron Munster hit top gear to see their side to victory.
Resting key players in Kiwis Brandon Smith and Jahrome Hughes, the Storm ran in four second tries to seal the win.
"Nineteen in a row, that's hard to do in any year I'd imagine but certainly the year that we're in now," Storm coach Craig Bellamy said.
"I'm really proud of the playing group, what they've done.
"It hasn't been pretty at times without a doubt but that's how footy goes. There's ups and there's downs ... to be able to win 19 games, especially in the situation and circumstances we're in, as I said, I'm really proud of this group."
The one low point for the Storm was the loss of NZ prop Kevin Proctor, who lasted just eight minutes before leaving the field with a shoulder injury.
