Three Barrett brothers - Beauden, Scott and Jordie - have all been promoted into the All Blacks starting line-up to face Australia in the third Bledisloe Cup test at Perth on Sunday.
With several of the team’s veteran stars missing from the squad currently in Perth, coach Ian Foster has been forced into some changes from the side that beat the Wallabies 57-22 at Auckland last month.
Beauden Barrett will wear the No.10 jersey for the first time this year, with first choice Richie Mo'unga awaiting the birth of a baby back home in New Zealand. Scott Barrett replaces Sam Whitelock at lock, with the stand-in captain also staying home.
Brad Weber will receive only his second start at halfback, replacing Aaron Smith, who is also on babywatch, while veteran TJ Perenara will come off the bench.
"Brad's been with us right through the series, TJ wasn't with us," says Foster. "It was really just a vote of confidence in Brad and a chance for him to get a bit of confidence from that starting position.
"Giving Brad the chance to use all the time he's had with us and play his game will be exciting. We've got five tests in a row, this is the first and there will be plenty of opportunity for everyone else."
Jordie Barrett's elevation to fullback seems like a form/rotation selection, with incumbent Damian McKenzie named among the reserves.
"Jordie has been training hard and looking for an opportunity," says Foster. "We've been pretty happy with Damian at the back in terms of the way he influences the first-receiver role and some of his decision-making from behind.
"But we know Jordie is a quality player. We've asked a lot of questions about his decision-making in attack and defence at 15, and I think that's his biggest work-on.
"He's a pretty special athlete who can do some special things, it's just about bringing that calmness at the back, and making sure we have real clarity with the ball and without the ball.
"I'm really delighted with how he's prepared, we've got a lot of faith in him and there's a nice little battle going there at fullback."
Anton Lienert-Brown returns from injury to fill the centre position, as Rieko Ioane slides back out to the wing.
In the absence of Whitelock and injured Sam Cane, Ardie Savea will captain the national side for the first time.
"We are ready, and the team is really determined to finish off this block of tests against Australia with a top performance," says Foster.
"We’ve had a really unique situation going into this test, with quarantine back in New Zealand and a 'soft' quarantine here in Perth, but the work that has gone in preparing the players has been outstanding, so when the whistle goes on Sunday, we’ll be ready."
