Cricket: White Ferns crushed by England in final one-day international to finish tour on low

The White Ferns have been hammered in their one-day international series finale against England, losing by 203 runs at Canterbury in the United Kingdom.

The result sees New Zealand go down 4-1 in the five-match ODI series, after a 2-1 defeat in the Twenty20 internationals earlier this month.

After captain Sophie Devine won the toss and chose to field first, England made the White Ferns rue their decision, racking up an imposing 347/5 from their 50 overs.

Opener Tammy Beaumont topscored for the hosts, scoring 102 runs from 114 balls, including 11 boundaries. Beaumont was ably supported by contributions from wicketkeeper Amy Jones (60 from 46) and Danni Wyatt (43 not out from 20).

With the ball, Hannah Rowe finished as the pick of the Kiwi bowlers, taking 2/65 from her 10 overs. Lea Tahuhu (1/63), Devine (1/74) and Hayley Jensen (1/62) were also among the wickets.

Not a single White Ferns bowler achieved an economy rate of less than a run-a-ball, with the best being Molly Penfold's 0/43 from seven overs.

In response, the White Ferns could only manage 144 all out, bowled out in the 36th over.

Lauren Down and Brooke Haliday topscored for the White Ferns with 27 each. None of the White Ferns' senior trio of Devine (3), Suzie Bates (6) and Amy Satterthwaite (6) could reach double figures.

England's Heather Knight (3/24) returned best bowling figures for the hosts.
