Wellington Phoenix have unveiled their new playing kit for the 2021/22 A-League season.
The home strip features a return of the club's iconic black stripes with yellow background, while the away kit retains the aqua-and-black look first introduced last season.
The club has also announced new sponsorship deals with Spark New Zealand and electronics company OPPO.
Phoenix striker Ben Waine is a big fan of the club's return to tradition.
"It’s always nice to be something looking fresh like this jersey," says Waine. "I’m very impressed by the kits this year and I can’t want to play in them to be fair.
"I definitely like the stripes - it's taking us back to our roots. It's that iconic Phoenix look that me and [Phoenix teammate Sam Sutton] have grown up watching."
The A-League season is scheduled to start on October 30, but that may be pushed back to November, as the competition waits the ongoing Australian COVID-19 pandemic to ease.
The Phoenix will base themselves in Australia for the second-straight season, but defender Sam Sutton says the team is better prepared.
"I think it will be easier because now we know what to expect," says Sutton.
"We learned from the things we struggled with in the past and we know what works well.
"There’s a lot of familiar faces and I think that will help bring the boys closer together and we’ll be able to work through whatever is thrown at us."
