Former All Black Piri Weepu on his Tiki Tour: 'A Māori boy who loves Aotearoa and the outdoors'

  • 03/09/2021

He was one of New Zealand's most-loved All Blacks of his era and sometimes one of the most misunderstood.

Piri Weepu played 73 tests in a decade of rugby for his country, lifting the Rugby World Cup in 2011 after playing a starring role in the first half of the final against France, which New Zealand won 8-7.

Post-career, Weepu is enjoying the things he loves best - Aotearoa, the outdoors and kai.

Weepu has just wrapped filming on the fourth season of Piri's Tiki Tour, where the Lower Hutt-native travels across the country experiencing fun, local activities and glorious food.

Weepu describes himself as a rugby lover, who is a "Māori boy, who loves Aotearoa and loves the outdoors"

He catches and cooks the best kaimoana in the country, but also makes time to hang with some of his old rugby mates.
