Kiwis legend Benji Marshall is giving nothing away over his NRL future, before South Sydney Rabbitohs' preliminary final against Manly Sea Eagles.
At 36, Marshall is yet to make a call on whether he'll play on into 2022, which would be his 20th season as a professional.
Marshall signed for the Rabbitohs on a one-year deal at the start of 2021 and is off-contract at the end of this season.
With one NRL premiership ring already in Marshall's trophy cabinet - won with Wests Tigers in 2005 - victory on Friday would give the Kiwis captain a chance to play for another.
Defeat would bring the curtain down on an impressive season for South Sydney, which finished third in the NRL regular season, behind Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers.
Marshall says "it's not hard" to push any thought of retirement to the back of his mind.
"I don't want to make it about me, but when I do make a decision, you'll be the first to know," he says.
"It would mean a lot [to win the NRL], but if we don't get through this week, there is no point looking at that.
"To be fair, I'm going to focus on winning this week. It's what you play for, to make a Grand Final and win the competition."
Marshall's future with the Rabbitohs is uncertain, with South Sydney losing playmaker Adam Reynolds, but signing Anthony Milford for 2022. although Milford's future is also uncertain, after he was charged with assault on Monday.
Meanwhile, Marshall will start Friday's clash on the interchange bench, for what could prove the last time in the NRL.
