All Blacks legend Waka Nathan has died, aged 81.
Nathan was considered one of the greatest players of his generation and one of the greatest flankers to have ever played the game.
"It is with great sadness that Auckland Rugby acknowledges the passing of Waka Nathan," Auckland Rugby says.
"Waka was a man of incredible mana, who devoted a large part of his life to Auckland Rugby."
Nathan made 23 appearences for the All Blacks, including 14 tests, from 1962-67.
After debuting for the All Blacks in 1962 on a tour of Australia, where he played both tests against the Wallabies, Nathan toured Britain in 1963/64, where he scored 11 tries in 15 matches, despite a broken jaw.
After retiring, Nathan became an NZ Māori selector between 1971-77 and managed the NZ Māori on their 1982 tour of Wales.
Nathan was honoured by NZ Rugby with a prominent role at the opening ceremony of the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987.
