The New Zealanders stuck in Australia after the cancellation of the NRLW will continue to receive payments from the NRL, after meeting with NRL officials on Friday.
Eight New Zealand Kiwi Ferns internationals are currently stuck in Australia after the NRL's decision to cancel the women's competition earlier this month.
NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo was in attendance as part of the organisation's representatives, along with New Zealand Rugby League officials.
Although Newshub understands the meeting was constructive, there's still only a very slim chance they'll be able to secure the emergency MIQ spots they're seeking in the immediate future.
The players will continue to receive daily payments from the NRL, having previously received no income from their clubs - with no matches played resulting in no payment.
Players are also being encouraged to look into vocational and study opportunities. COVID-19 vaccines will be made available for the players where available, depending on locations.
Elsewhere, the NRL have also signed off on a COVID relief payment for the NRLW players, on top of their contracted salaries, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The entirety of the NRLW playing group will each receive $3500, covering the seven week period between clubs' pre-seasons and what should have been the scheduled start of the competition.
