Young NZ Warriors star fullback Reece Walsh has been arrested over an incident at a Queensland nightclub precinct.
Warriors chief executive Cameron George has confirmed Walsh's arrest and that the matter is under investigation. He's met with the 19-year-old and informed the NRL Integrity Unit, adding no further comment would be made until a later stage.
Charges are yet to be laid with investigations are still ongoing, according to news reports out of Australia.
Jordan Fabris, a crime reporter for 9 News in Queensland, tweeted about the incident on Sunday morning.
"Rising NRL star, Reece Walsh, arrested by Queensland police overnight. Investigations into incident in Surfers Paradise nightclub precinct ongoing," Fabris said.
A video on social media platform TikTok appears to show the 19-year-old speaking with police before being placed in handcuffs and led away.
In a statement to Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper, a Queensland police spokesperson said a person allegedly failed to comply with a "move on direction".
"About 12:15am this morning police from Surfers Paradise ordered a move on direction to a 19-year-old male," the spokesperson said on Sunday.
"About 45 minutes later officers observed that male in the same area.
"As a result he was arrested and taken to Surfers Paradise Police Station."
The incident comes just just a week after he was named RLPA Rookie of the Year. The accolade was announced on Channel 9's Sunday Footy Show.
