Wellington Phoenix Women's squad has been bolstered by three more signings, adding a trio of Australian-based players to their inaugural roster.
Kiwi-born Te Reremoana Walker, and Australians Isabel Gomez and Cushla Rue have all signed one-year deals with the Wellington Phoenix Women's side, and will join up with their new side when they arrive in New South Wales next month.
"Mona [Te Reremoana Walker] has been on the national team radar for a while so we know what she brings to the table; her time with the [Newcastle] Jets has really helped her to grow over the last year," coach Gemma Lewis says.
"And both Gomez and Rue impressed at the Football NSW Institute last season - with Gomez gaining valuable A-League experience and Rue pegged as a future Matildas star - so I'm excited to see how all three players can positively impact on this squad this year."
Despite only being 17-years old, midfielder Walker has played more than 100 games since moving to New South Wales in 2017.
A New Zealand under-17 representative, Walker takes up the 11th and final spot on the Phoenix Women's roster for Kiwi players, with the other spots having to be filled by seven Australians.
Two of those have already been filled, thanks to the addition of Gomez and Rue.
Midfielder Gomez, 18, already boasts A-League Women's experience with Western Sydney Wanderers, making five appearances in the 2020/21 season.
Defender Rue, 18, has been involved in Australia's Young Matildas setup, and is the veteran of 75 games in the New South Wales National Premier League.
Gomez and Rue's signings leave the Phoenix Women with five Australian players to sign to complete their roster, before their maiden campaign begins against Western Sydney on December 3.
