Supercoach Wayne Bennett has been confirmed to guide Redcliffe Dolphins, as the Brisbane club prepares for its 2023 NRL debut.
Bennett, 71, will join the Dolphins, after coming off contract with South Sydney, whom he steered to this year's NRL premiership decider, losing to Penrith Panthers.
The move sees Bennett return to Queensland, where he was twice Brisbane Broncos coach, as well as four separate stints as Maroons coach in State of Origin.
Bennett's first job will be to oversee Redcliffe's roster, targeting soon to be off-contract stars like Cameron Munster and Kalyn Ponga.
"I feel very privileged actually," Bennett says. "Start of the season, I had no idea this would happen.
"It's been quite a journey. Pleased to be back in Brisbane, pleased to be here.
"Wasn't [about] dollars. [It was about] philosophy, and wanted to make sure I was on the same page and vice versa.
"We have to be compatible, because I can't make it work by myself. I need all the support that sits here today, so we're on the same page."
The Dolphins are the sixth NRL side that Bennett's coached - after Brisbane, Souths, Canberra Raiders, St George Dragons and Newcastle Knights - and he has won seven premierships.
