New Zealand and Australia will co-host the 2028 Twenty20 World Cup.
The International Cricket Council has confirmed 14 host nations for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) World Cups, T20 World Cups and Champions Trophy events from 2024-31.
Bangladesh, England, Ireland, India, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe have also been named as tournament hosts, while the United States and Namibia will stage an ICC event for the first time.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White welcomes the news, adding the two countries have a proven track-record of delivering successful global tournaments, having previously united to stage both the 1992 and 2015 ODI World Cups.
"We're simply delighted to be co-hosting this edition of the event with Australia, with whom we have a very close and collegial relationship," White says.
"There is a huge appetite for T20 cricket around the world and we’re very confident of delivering a top-draw tournament that will inspire and engage not only Kiwis and Australians – but new audiences all over the globe."
On Monday, Australia beat the Blackcaps in the final of the T20 World Cup in Dubai in a tournament White says demonstrated how popular the shortest format of the game has become.
"We're confident this tournament will be superbly run, have a terrific reach, and will capture the hearts and minds of legions of new fans and new generations of fans," he adds.
Pakistan will stage an ICC event for the first time, since it co-hosted the 1996 ODI World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka.
"To have 14 members hosting eight events is a reflection of the truly global nature of our sport," says ICC chair Greg Barclay. "I'd like to thank every member that submitted a bid and offer our congratulations to the successful bidders.
"It's fantastic to be returning to so many previous hosts, but what is really exciting about this process is the countries who will stage ICC events for the first time, including the USA, which is a strategic growth market for us.
"This gives us the opportunity to deepen our connection with fans in traditional cricket nations and also reach new fans around the world."
The ICC adds that a similar process would be in place next year to identify hosts for women's and U19s events for the next cycle.
