Well, after day one bragging rights slipped between Kiwi fingers, the Blackcaps need to take early wickets in order to restrict India from reaching a first-innings score nearing 400.
The hosts resume at 258/4, thanks to an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs between debutant Shreyas Iyer (75 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (50 not out).
Kyle Jamieson led the way for New Zealand on day one, taking three of the four wickets to fall, with Tim Southee taking the other - despite appearing to suffer a hip flexor injury in the afternoon session.
Worryingly though, the Kiwi spin trio failed to have the impact needed on a pitch that took turn inside the opening 10 overs, with Ajaz Patel, Will Somerville and debutant Rachin Ravindra all ending day one wicketless.
India will likely look to bat until the evening session at the very least, if they're able to, before they almost certainly have a crack at the Blackcaps' top order with their three-pronged spin attack later in the day.
These two sides met at this same venue four years ago, where India's spinners took 16 of the available 20 wickets, with Kane Williamson was the only Kiwi batter in the current XI to pass 50. India went on to win that test by 197 runs.
