The Silver Ferns' 2022 Commonwealth Games preparations have been boosted, with a Quad Series against England, South Africa and Australia scheduled for January.
Held in London, the Ferns will travel for the series - subject to COVID-19 travel restrictions - with each side playing each other in a round robin format, before a final and third-place playoff.
Newshub revealed the plans for the Ferns to travel overseas as part of their preparation last month.
The Quad Series will be held from January 15-19, with New Zealand to open against Australia, followed by England and South Africa, before playing off for finishing positions.
Coach Dame Noeline Taurua welcomes more competitive fixtures for the Silver Ferns, building towards their attempt at a Commonwealth Games gold medal at Birmingham from July.
"To be able to open the year with the Quad Series against three other world class teams is going to be hugely beneficial for our squad," she says.
"With the uncertainty that COVID-19 has continued to bring to the international sporting landscape, it's really important to get as much on-court competition as we can, as we continue to build towards the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham."
The series is a boost for the Silver Ferns and Australia Diamonds, after the postponement of the Constellation Cup, due to COVID-19 lockdown, earlier this year.
In preparation for the Quad Series, the Silver Ferns will assemble for a trials camp in Wellington next month, with the travelling squad named afterwards.
