Kiwi Michael Venus and German partner Tim Puetz have upset hometown favourites Nicolas Mahut and Pierre Hugues-Hubert to capture the Paris Masters doubles crown.
The French third seeds are also the reigning French Open champions, but could not deny Venus and Puetz, who only hooked up as a combination midway through the current season.
The unseeded pair broke Herbert early, leading 3-0 after eight minutes, and held their nerve to take the first set 6-3.
Their rivals fought back in the second, forcing several breakpoints, before eventually prevailing in a tiebreak and forcing a match tiebreak.
Venus and Puetz trailled 5-2, but took matchpoint at 9-7, only to drop the next two points. Puetz created a third matchpoint with a lob that found the line, then Venus put away an easy volley for victory - their second together.
"We knew we would need to play our best tennis," said Venus. "It was an unbelievable atmosphere today and it made the final very special.
"It's huge, these are the biggest tournaments for us."
The Kiwi split with Aussie John Peers after the French Open, but found quick success with Puetz, as they took out the Hamburg European Open in July.
His Paris success represents his 16th ATP Tour title - he combined with American Ryan Harrison to take the 2017 Roland Garros Grand Slam - and elevates him to 15th on world rankings, with Puetz cracking the top 20 for the first time at 18th.
The pair will contest this week's Stockholm Open, where they are seeded second.
