Cricket: Northern Brave's Ish Sodhi creates New Zealand domestic cricket history with stunning spell in Super Smash clash with Auckland Aces

Blackcaps white-ball specialist has played a starring role in a dominant win from Northern Brave over Auckland in the Super Smash on Eden Park's outer oval.

The leg-spinner took 2/5 from his four overs - the most economical spell in men's New Zealand domestic cricket as Northern Districts thrashed the Aces by six wickets.

Auckland were bowled out for 92 inside 18 overs with Anurag Verma and Freddy Walker taking three wickets apiece, with Kiwi international Lockie Ferguson top-scoring with 26.

The chase posed no problems for the Brave with Tim Seifert (38no) and Ketene Clark (28) top scoring as ND reached their target inside 16 overs.

It was a great performance from the Brave who were forced into two late COVID-19 protocol enforced changes with Scott Kuggeleijn and Joe Walker stood down with illness.
