New Zealand's Paul Coll has won his third squash Major of 2021, claiming victory at the Black Ball Open in Cairo, Egypt.
Coll, 29, wrapped up a 11-7, 11-5, 13-11 victory over world No.1, Egyptian Ali Farag, and became the first foreigner to win a title in the country since 2017.
Tuesday's (NZ time) victory is the third Major Coll has won this year, also winning the British Open, and Canary Wharf Classic - both held in England.
What's more, Coll's Major victories have all come by defeating Farag - doing so in all three finals, with the latest coming in front of the Egyptian's home crowd in Cairo.
Coll has faced Farag in four finals in 2021, winning three of them and losing just once, coming at the Netsuite Open in San Francisco.
"It was a real test for me tonight. I wanted to really make it tough for him. I stuck with my game plan from the word go," Coll says.
"It was actually one of my goals was to win in Egypt. I really wanted to do it. It's a really great place to come here, there's so many great players. I'm really proud to win.
"I had my one supporter in the crowd, Elijah [Kiwi squash player Elijah Thomas] in the crowd, thanks for the support and thanks for the support of everyone back home too."
