Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis have advanced to an all-homegrown Australian Open doubles final, winning their semi-final in straight sets on Thursday.
In front of a packed Rod Laver Arena, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis defeated Argentina's Horacio Zeballos and Spain's Marcel Granollers in straight sets, winning 7-6, 6-4 to advance.
The win sets up an all-Australian doubles final, after compatriots Max Purcell and Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell defeated tournament second seeds Joe Salisbury of Great Britain and Rajeev Ram of the US.
Australia could have yet another Australian open finalist, with Ash Barty competing in the tournament open semi-final on Thursday night, facing Madison Keys.
In a first set that went with serve, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis held their nerve in the tiebreak, to take it 7-4.
But the pair were able to break serve in the second set, seizing the momentum with another rapturous home crowd behind them.
Breaking serve twice, Kyrgios and Kokkinakis took the second set 6-4, and the match by two sets to love, and in doing so sent Rod Laver Arena into raptures.
Kyrgios in particular had come under fire for his behaviour in the tournament quarter-final, defeating Kiwi Michael Venus and partner Tim Putz.
But, by his own standards, the 26-year-old was well behaved in the semi-final victory - with the exception of smashing his racket late in the second set.
The win sets up the first all-Australian doubles final at the Australian Open since 1980, with Kyrgios and Kokkinakis to meet Ebden and Purcell on Saturday night (NZ time).
