All Whites and Burnley striker Chris Wood could be on the move from Burnley to English Premier League (EPL) relegation rivals Newcastle United.
The Daily Telegraph reports Newcastle have made an approach and hope Wood will approve the deal this week.
The report says Wood, currently in his fifth season with the Clarets, is interested in the proposal.
Newcastle are the richest football club in the world, after they were purchased by a Saudi-Arabian-backed consortium last October.
Wood made his move to Burnley from Leeds United in 2017, in a club-record $26 million transfer.
Wood has only scored three goals in his 18 appearances so far this season, but notched up his 50th Premier League goal last November.
Burnley and Newcastle sit 18th and 19th on the EPL ladder on 11 points, although the Clarets have two games in hand.
Newcastle are reportedly also looking at two other strikers, Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah and Liverpool's Divock Origi.
