Forward Josh Curran has extended his stay with NZ Warriors until the end of the 2024 NRL season.
The 22-year-old was one of the surprise packages for the Warriors last year, emerging as one of its brightest young prospects.
The former Sydney Rooster made his first-grade debut with the Warriors against the Dragons in round six and immediately cemented his spot in the gemeday squad for the remainder of his team's campaign.
"Josh made enormous progress last season when he really delivered on the potential we knew he had as a player," said Warriors general manager football Craig Hodges.
"The key was that he made some big adjustments that have paid off. He also benefited from the confidence [coach] Nathan [Brown] showed in him.
"You can see how much he has grown in the last year and what's really encouraging is that he has so much room to improve further."
On Saturday, Curran made his third appearance for the Indigenous NRL All Stars in their annual clash with the Māori, clocking up 80 metres over nine carries to go with 18 tackles.
"I'm excited about extending my time with the Warriors," says Curran. "I believe we have a great future ahead of us and I want to be a leader of the pack, as we search for our first premiership.
"I couldn't be happier staying and I can't wait to get home to New Zealand to play in front of our great fan base and sponsors."
Curran finished the 2021 season with per game averages of 79 metres and 39 tackles a game, adding 23 tackle breaks, five line breaks, five try assists and four tries.
The Warriors will play their first pre-season game against Melbourne Storm on Saturday.
