NZ Breakers have been edged 66-62 by Tasmania JackJumpers in an ugly Australian NBL contest in Launceston on Saturday.
On a night when both sides struggled mightily from the field, the newcomers were able to scrape a few more buckets down the stretch than their Kiwi counterparts, who only managed to score nine points in the final quarter.
The Breakers have now lost three straight games and are cemented at the bottom of the competition ladder.
Both teams were ice cold from beyond the arc, with the Breakers converting just five of 33 three-point attempts, while the JackJumpers only sank three of 27.
JackJumpers forward MiKyle McIntosh proved the difference, using his post game to rack up 21 points on 7/11 shooting.
'Next Star' Ousmane Dieng was the best of the Breakers, scoring 17 points to go with nine rebounds and three assists.
Chasson Randle added 18 points on 6/15 from the field with four rebounds.
Breakers import Peyton Siva notched nine assists and two steals, but was unsuccessful on all 13 of his field-goal attempts to finish the game scoreless.
The Breakers move on to face Brisbane Bullets on Monday.
