NZ Breakers have fallen to a 102-87 defeat to Illawarra Hawks in their Australian NBL clash in Hobart on Tuesday.
Coming off their 107-73 beating by Melbourne United last week, the under-strength Breakers were more competitive against the high-flying Hawks, facing just a two-point deficit at halftime.
But powered by the hot shooting of guard Justinian Jessup, the Hawks pulled clear in a pivotal third quarter push to consign the Breakers to their 11th loss of the season and keep them mired at the bottom of the ladder.
The Breakers were led by an impressive shooting display from French 'Next Star' import Hugo Besson, who scored 20 points on 8/14 shooting, adding eight rebounds and three assists.
Kyrin Galloway contributed 16 points on an efficient 7/10 shooting, while point guard Peyton Siva posted 12 points to go with eight assists and four steals.
They'll move on to face Tasmania JackJumpers on Saturday.
