Two-time Winter Paralympics champion Adam Hall has added a bronze medal to New Zealand's haul at the Beijing.
After gold and silver medals to teammate Corey Peters in sitting downhill and Super G skiing, Hall, 34, has extended his already impressive Games career, with a third-place finish in the standing super combined, where he also took bronze at Pyeongchang four years ago.
Contested over two runs - a fast Super G and a technical slalom, the Kiwi was just 15th after his first attempt, 4.45s behind French leader Arthur Bauchet.
"If I was within five seconds or so on the Super-G, I knew I had a shot," reflected Hall, who was born with spina bifida.
On his specialty slalom - the event he has won gold medals at the previous two Winter Paralympics - Hall catapulted into the lead and had a long wait, as the 14 rivals ranked ahead of him completed their runs.
"It's the worst position to put yourself in," he said. "You're waiting down here for so long."
Only Bauchet managed faster, eclipsing Hall's 39.44s by just 0.06s, while Finn Santeri Kiveri rode his superior Super G performance to silver.
"With the vertical drop that this course has and the steepness of it, which is suited to me, you definitely had to have your disco shoes on, for sure!"
Hall will contest his favoured slalom event on Saturday, hoping to secure a Winter Paralympic threepeat.
At Pyeongchang, he received the prestigious Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award, awarded to the male and female athletes who each "best exemplify the spirit of the Games and inspire and excite the world".
