A heavily rotated All Whites side was still too good for opponents New Caledonia at the Oceania World Cup qualifying tournament, winning 7-1 at Qatar's Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium.
Already having sealed top spot in Group B thanks to wins over Papua New Guinea and Fiji at the eight-team tournament, All Whites coach Danny Hay was afforded the opportunity to give some of his star players a rest, and open the door for the next wave of Kiwi talent.
All up, Hay made 10 changes to the starting side from the victory over Fiji, with defender Tommy Smith the only returnee.
Striker Alex Grieve was one of those, and the 22-year-old made the most of his first start as an All White by opening the scoring in the eighth minute, turning a cross from Joey Champness on the right wing into the New Caledonian net.
But after clean sheets in their opening two wins, the All Whites finally conceded their first goal of the tournament, as Jean-Phillipe Saiko headed the ball past debutant goalkeeper Jamie Searle for the equaliser just four minutes later.
Conceding only spurred the All Whites on though, as the Kiwi side hit back twice before halftime.
Logan Rogerson scored his first international goal from the penalty spot after a foul on Grieve, who then added New Zealand's third in the opening 45 minutes, latching onto a long ball from Smith that put him one-on-one with goalkeeper Jean-Gilles Hnamuko after a slip by defender Vincent Vakie.
Returning for the second half with a 3-1 advantage, coach Hay turned to the bench in the second half, bringing on his big guns against a wilting New Caledonia.
Forward Andre de Jong scored New Zealand's fourth, after a shot from Chris Wood was parried straight into his path, as Bill Tuiloma put the All Whites 5-1 up not long after, scoring from a corner.
Denied initially, Wood had his goal in the 83rd minute, when a pass sliced New Caledonia's back four open, allowing the Kiwi striker to slot the ball calmly past Hnamuko.
Wood has his second, and New Zealand's seventh, in the 90th minute, as de Jong's outside of the foot cross was headed home to put an exclamation mark on an emphatic victory for the All Whites.
Victory sees the All Whites complete the group stage with an emphatic 3-0 record, and setting up a tournament semi-final against Tahiti, to be played on Monday morning (NZ time).
The winner of the Oceania Qualifying Tournament will meet the fourth placed side from Central and North America in a one-off match later this year, with the winner winning a spot at this year's Football World Cup in Qatar.
