A spirited comeback from NZ Breakers has fallen agonisingly short, as the Kiwi side tasted defeat for the 22nd time this season and ninth time in succession, going down 88-86 to Tasmania JackJumpers.
The latest loss means that the Kiwi side haven't tasted victory since March 12, before they finish their Australian-based campaign next week.
Up 70-68 heading into the final quarter, the Breakers let their lead slip to trail 88-83 inside the last minute at Hobart.
A three-pointer from captain Tom Abercrombie put the Breakers within one scoring play of going level with the JackJumpers, at 88-86 with more than 30 seconds still on the clock.
A defensive block from Rob Loe gave the Breakers possession and one last chance at victory - only for Abercrombie to miss one final attempt at three points, condemning the Breakers to another defeat.
Loe finished as the Breakers' best, with 27 points, seven rebounds and two assists, coming after the club released Yanni Wetzell to join Spanish EuroLeague side Baskonia.
American import Peyton Siva also chipped in with 13 points and five assists, while Rasmus Bach had 12 points from the bench.
For Tasmania, guard Josh Adams stood out with 23 points, three rebounds and three assists, supported by Jack McVeigh's 16 points and six rebounds.
The Breakers have already been confirmed as this season's ANBL wooden spooners, playing only for pride in their campaign finale when they face Adelaide 36ers next Sunday.
Breakers 86 (Loe 27, Siva 13, Bach 12)
