The Blackcaps have fought back from a perilous position to win the second one-day international against the Netherlands at Hamilton, claiming a 118-run victory for an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
With his side reduced to 32/5, Tom Latham's captain's knock of 140 not out guided New Zealand to 264/9 from 50 overs, then the Blackcaps attack needed just 34.1 overs to bowl the Netherlands out for 146.
Latham's innings is his new highest score in an ODI, bettering his 137 against Bangladesh at Christchurch in 2016.
Michael Bracewell finished as the pick of New Zealand's bowlers with 3/21, while fellow spinner Ish Sodhi was perhaps unlucky to only take 2/17, after a spell that put the brakes on the Netherlands run chase.
Bas de Leede topscored for the Dutch with 37, but a contribution near Latham's was always needed, if the visitors were to earn a maiden victory over their rivals in any format.
The win sees the Blackcaps lead the three-match series 2-0, after a seven-wicket victory at Mt Maunganui in the opener.
With nothing on the line in the summer's finale, the Blackcaps can give veteran Ross Taylor a fitting farewell on Monday, with the third and final match of the series at the same venue.
After winning the toss and bowling first, Netherlands captain Pieter Seelar's decision was vindicated, as his side ran through the Blackcaps top order.
An opening stand of 22 runs preceded a shocking collapse, as the Netherlands opening bowlers Fred Klaassen (3/36) and Logan van Beek (4/56) ran riot.
Among the Blackcaps' top five, only Henry Nicholls (19) made it to double figures - apart from Latham
Arriving at the crease at 30/3, Latham could only watch as wickets fell, before he was joined by Colin de Grandhomme (16).
The pair stopped the rot with a 57-run partnership, of which 37 came from Latham, but de Grandhomme departed as Pieter Seelaar's first wicket, with Doug Bracewell walking in at No.8.
From 89/6, Latham and Bracewell rebuilt the New Zealand innings with a 90-run partnership in just 99 balls.
Latham passed 50, while Bracewell departed before he could do the same, out for 41 to Otago all-rounder Michael Rippon.
Undeterred by the loss of Bracewell, Latham pressed on to convert his 17th ODI fifty into his sixth century, needing only 39 balls to score his second 50 runs, as he reached his hundred from 101 balls, with nine fours and one six.
Running out of partners, Latham showed off his power by hitting four more sixes, including two in the final over to take the score over 260 runs.
A boundary off the last ball took Latham to his highest one-day international score and carried the Blackcaps to an impressive 264/9 on an abrasive Seddon Park wicket, but the Netherlands openers could only add four runs, before Doug Bracewell (1/24) had Stephan Myburgh caught and bowled in the first over.
Kyle Jamieson (2/22) needed just one ball to take his first wicket, with a juggling act from Martin Guptill behind the wicket sending Max O'Dowd on his way for a first-ball duck at 4/2, after just seven balls of the Netherlands chase.
A third-wicket stand of 77-runs kept the Netherlands on track, as Vikramjit Singh played his shots for 31.
But the introduction of Sodhi completely halted the Dutch momentum, even if he played a support role to the other bowlers.
Singh played one shot too many and was dismissed at 81/3, finding the hands of Sodhi at long-on, off the bowling of de Grandhomme.
Blair Tickner bounced out Scott Edwards for six at 89/4, caught at deep square leg by Nicholls, before Bas de Leede gave Sodhi his first wicket, when he chipped a soft catch to Michael Bracewell at short midwicket for 37.
Bracewell joined cousin Doug in the wickets column, bowling Seelaar through the gate for a classic off-spinner's dismissal at 119/6. He had a second wicket, when Rippon ran past a turning ball and Latham completed the stumping, before van Beek edged to Taylor at slip, as the Blackcaps took their eighth wicket.
Jamieson denied Michael Bracewell the chance for a five-wicket haul, when he knocked over Aryan Dutt with a slower ball to leave the Netherlands nine down.
Sodhi returned to the bowling crease at the start of the 35th over and needed just one ball to wrap the innings up, with Brandon Glover edging to Taylor at slip - his 350th catch for the Blackcaps across all formats.
Aside from sealing the series, victory also moves the Blackcaps up into eighth place on the ICC's ODI Super League ladder and an automatic qualification spot for the 2023 Cricket World Cup held in India.
