Liverpool supporters paid tribute to Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo, observing a minute's applause in honour of the death of his newborn son.
Ronaldo, 37, was absent from his side's 4-0 defeat at Anfield, on compassionate leave from Manchester United duties, after the death of his newborn son.
Football has rallied around the Portugal captain after his loss, with no greater example than that of the Anfield faithful.
In the seventh minute, in reference to Ronaldo's No.7 shirt, of the Premier League encounter, Anfield rose in applause, while singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' to show their support.
"That is exactly how football should be - all rivalry aside in this moment," Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said. "There is only one thing that is important and it was really a show of class."
Manchester United have given no indication of when Ronaldo will return to first team duties.
Liverpool and Manchester United boast the greatest rivalry in English football, with 19 and 20 top-flight league titles respectively.
