NZ Warriors know their actions will speak much louder than their words if they're to bounce back from Monday's club record loss to Melbourne Storm.
In an Anzac Day clash to forget, the Kiwi club fell to its worst ever defeat, losing 70-10 in one of the poorest performances from any side in the NRL era.
But the Warriors don't have to wait long for a chance to right those wrongs, and will line up again on Saturday night, facing off against 15th-placed Canberra Raiders in their temporary home of Redcliffe.
For halfback Shaun Johnson, the Warriors' need to respond in style can only be shown on the pitch, rather than in any talk in the pre-match build up.
"It's probably not really a week of words, it's probably more so actions," Johnson said.
"I've been on this side of the scoreboard a couple of times throughout my career. As a player, the best thing that can happen is you get a short turnaround [and] you get a chance to get out there and sort of make up and right your wrongs from the week before.
"The fact that we've only had to wait five days to go out there and show who we really are, I think that's a positive."
With just those five days between matches, the Warriors won't be able to iron out any of the glaring faults from Monday's loss.
Rather than going back to the drawing board and starting from scratch, Johnson says the Warriors know what they have to do if they're to recover from their slump that's seen them drop their last two matches.
"We want to still promote positive footy," he continued. "Obviously defence, [we] leaked a fair few points, so tidying up that, getting back to what we've been doing throughout the whole year.
"I guess competing, it's probably an area we got to a certain point in the weekend where we probably fell away from.
"So just having that attitude of going after everything, that 'whatever it takes' attitude to make sure we're on the right side of the scoreboard this week is what it looks like for us."
Johnson will likely have a new face alongside him on Saturday night, with mid-season signing Daejarn Asi almost certain to slot into the halves pairing, following Chanel Harris-Tavita's absence after needing surgery to repair a ruptured testicle suffered in the Storm defeat.
And even though 21-year-old Asi has only been with the Warriors for a few days, Johnson is confident in the youngster's ability to hit the ground running.
"Obviously he's just come in. He's obviously new to the squad, only arrived a day or two ago.
"I'm sure whatever way they go there, he'll do a job, he's ready to play. I know he's been there or thereabouts up in North Queensland for the start of the season.
"I'm sure whatever they decide there, he'll be good to go, and we'll be good to go."
