Seven judo athletes have been named to represent New Zealand at this year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Christchurch husband and wife duo Moira de Villiers and Jason Koster will both appear at the Commonwealth Games for the second time.
After judo didn't feature at the 2018 Games on the Gold Coast, the sport's return in 2022 gives the chance for New Zealand to bring home more medals after winning five in Glasgow, two silver and three bronze.
De Villiers heads to Birmingham as the Commonwealth's No.2 ranked competitor, and claimed gold at both the Tunis and Algiers Opens earlier this year.
The 32-year-old is one of two returning judo medallists for New Zealand after she claimed silver at Glasgow.
Husband Koster, 39, meanwhile makes his second appearance at the Games after winning bronze at Glasgow.
"It's a dream come true," said de Villiers of competing alongside her husband.
"After having my daughter four years ago, it's been a real goal to get back to the Commonwealth Games and I've got my eyes on gold this time.
"We've been on this journey together for a really long time and it's amazing to have my husband and coach right by my side."
Aside from the experience of de Villiers and Costa, the other five members of the Kiwi team will all make their Games debuts in Birmingham.
Qona Christie, 23, will appear for New Zealand after claiming gold at this year's Sydney International Open.
Sydney Andrews, 19, is another heading to Birmingham in good form, after she won bronze at the Prague Open this year. Hayley Mackey, 21, completes the female Kiwi judo contingent.
Elsewhere, Koster is joined by Elliott Connolly, 28, and Kody Andrews, 21 as male competitors.
The seven judo athletes takes the total number of Kiwis named to travel to Birmingham to 32.
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games begin on July 28.
