White Ferns batter and vice-captain Amy Satterthwaite has retired from international cricket, after missing out on an NZ Cricket contract for 2022/23.
Satterthwaite, 35, is New Zealand's most-capped player in women's one-day international cricket, with 145 matches across a 15-year career.
The elegant lefthander has scored 4639 runs in ODIs, including seven centuries and 27 fifties, along with 50 wickets at an average of just under 30. Only Suzie Bates has scored more runs than Satterthwaite for New Zealand.
She also represented New Zealand in 111 Twenty20 Internationals, scoring 1784 runs and taking 26 wickets, but missing out on a central contract for the upcoming season has forced her hand, before the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in July.
"It is with a degree of sadness that I announce my retirement from international cricket," Satterthwaite said.
"It has been a tough few days, after learning of NZC's decision to head in a new direction and contract some younger cricketers.
"I am disappointed not to be receiving a contract and believe I still had more to offer, but I respect NZC's decision and I wish the White Ferns all the best, as they embark on an exciting winter of cricket, including the Commonwealth Games.
"I'll be supporting them all the way."
Satterthwaite is the second White Ferns mainstay to retire this month, following wicketkeeper Katey Martin last week.
The White Ferns central contract list will be announced on Friday.
Satterthwaite will continue to play domestic cricket, as a Canterbury Magicians stalwart since her 2003/04 debut.
