White Ferns wicketkeeper Katey Martin has announced her retirement from all forms of the game, after a 21-year career.
Martin, 37, made her White Ferns debut in November 2003, and has played 199 matches for New Zealand across the three formats of the game, with 103 One Day Internationals, 95 Twenty20 Internationals and one test match.
Her international debut came two years after making her domestic debut, as a stalwart for Otago since 2001.
As a wicketkeeper, Martin holds the record for most dismissals in New Zealand domestic women's cricket, with 171 from 169 domestic one-day matches - another record for the most games played for men and women.
Her 199th and final match came during this year's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, making 30 not out as the White Ferns finished their campaign on a high in a 71-run victory over Pakistan, despite failing to qualify for the tournament semi-finals.
"To all my team-mates, coaches, opposition, fans and friends I've met along the way, I want to thank you for making my time in cricket so memorable," Martin said.
"I also want to thank New Zealand Cricket, the New Zealand Cricket Players Association and Otago Cricket for their support over my entire career.
"Cricket really has given me my life - from leaving Dunedin as a youngster to attend the NZC Academy in Christchurch, to travelling the world as a White Fern and representing my country - it's been a dream come true."
Martin's impact on the White Ferns has also been recognised across the game, with tributes flowing to her retirement.
"Congrats," tweeted Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy. "Thorougly enjoyed the banter! Enjoy the next chapter."
"Congrats on an extraordinary career," Minister for Sport and Recreation Grant Robertson said. "A trailblazer, leader and all round top person."
"One of the best team mates you could ask for, and someone you knew always had your back" added White Ferns batter Maddy Green. "I will miss running out alongside you...and all your questionable chat behind the stumps."
In retirement, Martin adds she will continue her role as a commentator, as well as look towards coaching and mentoring the next generation of young cricketers.
Martin's exit leaves the White Ferns needing to find a new wicketkeeper before their next assignment, the Birmingham Commonwealth Games beginning in July.
